Different Types of Yoga and their Benefits for the Body

Yoga is one activity which is becoming very popular in the West. More and more places are starting up with yoga classes and people are really enthusiastic about it. Power yoga is something that was mainly introduced in the West itself. It is basically a compact form of the ashtanga yoga and it deals with the movement of the limbs. The only difference between ashtanga yoga and power yoga is that in power yoga the exact sequence may not be followed. It involves the movement of the body and whenever you are moving from one pose to another, you would not be able to stop in between. It continues for some time after which you can stop. This continuous practice is said to benefit the body and that is why it has been named as power yoga.

The Iyengar yoga is another type which is suitable for the beginners. This yoga mainly deals with the perfect alignment of body and ensures that you stretch to the fullest extent possible. This keeps your body straight because you would have to hold on to the pose for quite a long time. Unlike other types of yoga, this is rather simple but you will have to sit in one pose for a long period. In all the other yoga types, the posture changes after every few minutes but in this one, it does not. The best part of this yoga is that it uses different props such as straps and blocks so that the alignment of the body remains perfect.
